And I’m not talking about Mikhail Baryshnikov!

I like to say that I invented this recipe, but there is no way that’s the case. It all began with a bottle of Kahlua I bought for a boozy chocolate trifle (click for recipe). After I used it for the trifle, this bottle of Kahlua sat there, untouched for a couple of months. I mean, who just sips on Kahula (except for high school kids that know that’s the only thing they can unnoticeably take from their parents’ liquor cabinet)
OOPS! I just blew my cover.
I was craving dessert and also an adult beverage when a light bulb went off! Kahlua + vodka + cream = WHITE RUSSIAN DELICIOUSNESS. BUT, it was a Thursday night and I like to save up my indulgences for the weekend.
Enter my friend almond milk
I love almond milk for smoothies, oatmeal, cereal, basically anywhere milk is used. I genuinely love the flavor and prefer it to milk even though I’m not lactose intolerant. Don’t get me wrong, almond milk ice cream (yes, it exists) does not and never will be a substitute for Haagen Dazs. Ever.
So, because it’s Thursday and I think you deserve a little treat without overdoing it, I now present you:
Skinny White Russian Martinis (Lady Olive Style):
Ingredients:
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Kahlua
2 oz Almond Milk (I like unsweetened Vanilla)
You will notice that I used Smirnoff “Whipped” flavored vodka. It’s the only vodka I had besides Grey Goose Pear, and to be honest, I think it’s extraordinary in this recipe!
Pour your ingredients over ice in a cocktail shaker. Then shake it up!! A lot!
Strain your martini into a glass…
Enjoy your lightened up White Russian!
It’s creamy, tastes indulgent and has approximately 180 calories. Compare that to the original made with cream, which clocks in at almost 300 calories.
Next time you’re craving a dessert drink, give this a try. You may even want to make it a double…
What’s your favorite dessert drink? In addition to White Russians, I love a good Grasshopper.
Let me know in the comments!
I just died a little bit over your high school Kahlua reminiscing!

Thought you might like that! I can’t believe Kahlua and Coke hasn’t made it on any cocktail menus yet.
Sounds absolutely delicious!
Isn’t That Charming.
Ummm that sounds SO good!!!
Let me know if you try it! It tastes so naughty but it’s really not!
We stumbled over here by a different website and thought
I might as well check things out. I like what I see so now i’m following you.
Look forward to looking at your web page repeatedly.
Touche. Sound arguments. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the share. I never thought of using almond milk. I just use 2%. For even less sugar, try sugar free kahlua. It taste pretty close to the original. It’s not bad.
Amazing! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a completely different subject but
it has pretty much the same page layout and design. Excellent choice of colors!
