Well hello!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
Mine was full of this Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan Pie and Greek dancing!
Notice the Leigh Viner prints on the wall! I am so pleased with them!
In the midst of all the parties, hectic last minute shopping (ahem….) food prep, etc, it’s easy to forget to live in the moment.
I got to thinking about the new year, HELLO 2014. I have honestly never made any New Year’s resoltuions. How ridiculous is that. As if I don’t have things to improve on!
It’s never too late to start.
One of my resolutions is to set goals and implement them. As I mentioned, I have faults for sure. I tend to dream big but not act on it. How can things get done if you don’t take some initiative? It may sound silly, but starting this blog was terrifying for me. Putting my thoughts out on the internet, my photos, my life, so exposing! I was worried about what people would think. I wondered, will people think I’m vain, stupid, childish, frivolous? Starting this blog has really given me a push in the right direction. I have begun to step outside of my comfort zone, and I have have to say, that it feels good. Really good!!
Another goal: Don’t care so much about what people think.
On that note, something I have shied away from for whatever self-doubting reason is putting outfit pictures up on my blog.
Here is an outfit I wore to lunch with my friend Sally (you remember her from this post). I had no intentions of photographing this outfit, but the mood struck and I went with it.
Vest: H&M (from this post) Jeans: Express
Blouse: Loft, sold old similar here: Shoes: Dolce Vita (on sale for $52!)
When springs comes, I’m going to need a 12 step program to wean myself off of this vest. It has become a staple in my wardrobe. It goes with so many different outfits! I even wore it with a cocktail dress to a Christmas party!
These jeans have also been surprisingly versatile. I have really had good luck with Express lately. These jeans are currently on sale! Warning, they do run large, so size down 1 to 2 sizes!
Oh these shoes, what a deal. I got them for Christmas and already have worn them three times! I may have to buy a second pair so I will have them when these are worn out! I am crazy about the funky/chunky heel.
Do you typically make New Year’s resolutions or do you think they are for the birds?
Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year! I’ll be ringing in 2014 at one of Charlotte’s most delicious restaurants. Don’t worry, I promise to share.
